Mindfulness and Meditation

Meditation and mindfulness practices can help us slow down, manage stress and anxiety and observe our feelings. With some practice and a little dedication, you can build this routine into your schedule. Remember – that there is no wrong way to meditate.

Strike a balance

Start small, it’s better to meditate for even two minutes a day than to set an ambitious goal that doesn’t fit your life or schedule. Meditation can be practiced and learned over time.

Benefits to learning

Meditation and mindfulness can help you manage anxiety and stress which can lead to more positive feelings and energy to tackle what’s ahead. Notice your breath. Acknowledge your feelings. It all helps you refocus and recalibrate for the moments ahead, which can contribute to your academic success.

Reflect and rewire

Once you build a habit of meditation and mindfulness, your perspectives and thought patterns might begin to change. You might feel more grounded, find it easier to concentrate and sleep, and notice your mood says more steady.

Being more mindful and practicing meditation offer extraordinary benefits, especially for college students. Resources to help are in the Resource of the Week.
