Before Ludacris grabs the mic for Chapel Thrill, set the stage with your crew for a fun and safer experience. Run though this safety playlist with your friends before you roll out.
Track #1: What’s your safe-e-ty plan?
Big events like Chapel Thrill bring the larger Carolina community together. Having a safety plan with your friends helps you stay aware and look out for each other.
- Use the buddy system as you navigate throughout the event
- Share your location
- Choose a central meeting place, in case anyone gets lost
Track #2: Fuel Up
From Luda’s set to cheering on our Tar Heels in the stands, keep up the hype by eating breakfast and packing water and light snacks with you.
Track #3: Don’t act a fool, know your limits
If you choose to drink or use substances, lower your risk by:
- Eating beforehand
- Staying hydrated
- Knowing your source:Pay attention to what you’re consuming, how much, where it’s coming from, and who is preparing it
- Consuming slowly
- Knowing your limits
- Avoiding mixing
- Sticking with friends
- Having a designated driver or using a rideshare service
Track #4: Charge Up!
Make sure your phone is fully charged before the event so that you can communicate with others in case of an emergency.
- Bring a portable charger along if you have one
Track #5: Move, get out the (SPF) spray!
It’s almost fall but the Carolina sun is not letting up! If you’re attending outdoor events during the day, do the following to protect your skin:
- Use sunscreen and reapply every two hours
- Wear a hat and sunglasses (bonus points if they’re Carolina blue)
Track #6: Stand Up! / See Something, Say Something
If you see something suspicious, call 911, use the Carolina Ready app, or use one of the blue emergency call boxes around Kenan Stadium.
