Mental Health Seminar: Sleep and Serenity

October 1, 2024
Categories:

The second seminar in the Fall 2024 Mental Health Seminar series, "Sleep and Serenity: Sleep's Impact on Mental Health."

In our busy lives, sleep often gets pushed to the bottom of our lists as we juggle deadlines, responsibilities, and life's demands. Sleep, however, is not something we can simply overlook. It is essential for both your mental health and cognitive functioning. We invite you to join us for a seminar with Dr. Parisa Kaliush, where you will explore how sleep has a significant impact on your mental well-being.

Whether you are balancing classes, work, or other responsibilities, this seminar is a chance to reflect on your sleep habits. Learn how improving your sleep hygiene can help you feel more focused, manage stress, and boost your overall well-being.

Dr. Parisa Kaliush is a postdoctoral fellow specializing in reproductive psychology at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Utah, where she conducted research and clinical practice related to sleep and emotion regulation. At Carolina, her work revolves around increasing access to perinatal mental health treatment, preventing perinatal suicide, and coordinating a novel perinatal sleep medicine clinic.

This mental health seminar will take place on October 24th, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., via Zoom.

The Mental Health Seminar series is open to students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty, and staff. The series creates a space for learning, reflecting on, and discussing mental health. This year's seminars focus on research-to-practice, giving the audience both the science behind mental health and strategies they can employ right now. The overall goal is to empower all campus community members to help influence campus mental health and well-being. Join us!
