Grad Student Spotlight: Shree Patel

Graduate School Communication intern Parker Perry interviewed Shree Patel, a program assistant at Student Wellness and community health expert. Shree’s wisdom is shared below:

What are you passionate about?

“I am passionate about projects that can improve my person. I like keeping up with current events to understand how I can be a better advocate. I like exploring avenues to improve myself. I love learning about new research in clinical studies. I also love knowing trivia facts!”

How do you juggle grad school and other commitments?

“I love studying with friends because of the opportunity to learn from and teach other grad students. It helps me absorb the material! It’s helpful to schedule something in advance with friends so I have something to look forward to. I love trying new restaurants and try foods with friends!“

What is your favorite form of self care?

“Hot showers are great for the winter! It’s awesome to have a skin care and lotion routine that’s calming and helps me prepare for sleep. I also like going on long walks and exploring trails in North Carolina. Going on walks is a great time for self-reflection.“

How do you build connection at Carolina?

“I’m a Social Needs Navigator with SHAC. Volunteering helps me build connections within the community. I love the opportunity to apply what I learn at Gillings in real-world situations! I love meeting people. Branching out to connect with students from different schools is fun!”
