UNC Chapel Hill has joined with many top schools in adopting and implementing EverFi's Haven: Understanding Sexual Assault as a part of Carolina’s sexual violence prevention initiatives. The University is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our community. It is the responsibility of every employee and student in the University community to foster an environment free of discrimination, harassment (including sexual or gender-based harassment and sexual violence), interpersonal violence, and stalking. The University encourages all community members to take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent or stop an act of harassment or violence. This online module introduces students to the dynamics of sexual assault and how to prevent it from happen to their peers through bystander intervention. Students can learn more about bystander intervention once they arrive on campus by attending One Act or One Act for Greeks skills trainings.
Please note that the course includes surveys that offer you feedback on your attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential – no one except you will be able to see what you reported. The University will only receive information about the student body as a whole. Your participation in the surveys is entirely voluntary and you will not be penalized for nonparticipation. If you would prefer not to answer some or all of these questions, you can choose to leave them blank, but we hope you’ll answer all questions as completely as you can. The information you provide will help us evaluate the effectiveness of the course. Once you respond to the survey, you will not have the opportunity to delete the information from the Haven database at any future time.
We know that learning more about this topic can be difficult, and incoming students are encouraged to access campus resources (confidential or private) as they feel comfortable.
