SUMMARY:Carolina Recovery: Weekly Process Group
DESCRIPTION:This is a mutual-support group facilitated by Student Wellness staff for students in\, seeking\, or curious about recovery. Please email recovery@unc.edu if you’re interested in joining or want to ask about other substance use resources!  \nOur support group goals are the following:  \n\nCommunity support: Helping students foster peer support networks; presenting safe and attainable space for students to be honest with themselves and others about struggles and achievements; prioritizing facilitation over leading the group (students become leading participants); reminding students to look for similarities across seemingly different lived experiences. Focus on diversifying and making recovery spaces as inclusive as possible through an intersectional lens.   \n\n\nRecovery capital: Acknowledging students’ skills and strengths; discussing and specifying goals and areas of improvement; planning actionable objectives; and recognizing the value of being where our feet are now. Each month\, we will incorporate skills for managing stress and triggers and clarify student values that may positively impact recovery.   \n\n\nEmpowerment: Encouraging students to share their experiences and utilize their agency for recovery\, academics\, interpersonal relationships\, and the other eight dimensions of wellness. Prioritizing strategies to build students’ resiliency through topics and themes they can apply throughout adulthood.  \n\n**Please note that this space is exclusively for people in or seeking recovery and is NOT open to observers or for educational purposes.
